Why use adjustable rear control arms?
With a lowered car (either for street or track use), the non-adjustable original arms cause unwanted negative camber - the tops of the rear tires angle in too much, causing uneven tire wear and unwanted effects on handling. The adjustable rear control arm corrects this problem and can be tuned for any lowering, whether a street car ro a full-on race car through a +1.0 to -3.0 range.

Co-developed with OE-supplier SPC Performance, the combination of OE engineering and UUC's enhancements make these arms truly "ultimate".

With so many alternate choices, why UUC?
UUC's custom-made proprietary design resolves many of the issues with other brands:

  • Aluminum center rods are known to bend and fail under extreme use or after extended use (build-up of strain/weakening). Failure of a suspension part that keeps the wheel in place can be quite dangerous. UUC's chromoly center rods are the strongest in the world, virtually unbreakable in this application.
  • The wrench-fixing point of UUC's chromoly arm will not "round off" like the fixing point of aluminum arms.
  • UUC's original-style bushing is silent, and does not have the squeaks and rattles associated with the use of heim joints or spherical bearings.
  • The combination of aluminum ends and chromoly steel center bar results in a reasonable weight, a balanced combination of mass and strength.
  • UUC's stress-relieved aluminum cleavis end is not only very strong, but is also much more precise in fitment than stamped-steel alternatives.

    The SwayBarbarian
    When setting out to design their SwayBarbarian, UUC looked at some important criteria which others had not addressed.  There is the issue of stiffness characteristics which were achieved, but to set the system apart from others, they have incorporated some unique features found only on the SwayBarbarian.

    Attention to Detail
    As an example of our attention to detail, the E36 M3 Sway Barbarians is a very unique set of bars.  The rear is an asymmetric shape, allowing for a fit unlike any other aftermarket sway bar.  Most aftermarket swaybars will usually wind up hitting the exhaust system under full droop situations (when the rear suspension is complete extended such as on a lift).  The Sway Barbarian has a unique bend to less this possibility.  Was this advanced engineering?  Was it rocket science?  Was it difficult to design?  The answer to all of these questions is no.  It's common sense.  

    Superior Materials
    Whereas most BMW aftermarket bars are made from either 1020, 1026, 1040 or 1045 mild steel, the SwayBarbarian is made from 4130 chrome moly spring grade steel.  Whereas mild steel bars bend easily in the Vector CNC bending machines, 4130 is more difficult to do so.  Because of its "springy" nature, it wants to return back to its original shape requiring more work to get it into its final shape.  Chrome Moly is approximately twice the price of all forms of mild steel.

    UUC put their bars through this extensive process to insure that the final product will be the strongest, most durable bar on the market, and that it will be the most resistant to form alteration.  Currently, there are not other BMW aftermarket sway bars using this material or method of manufacture.  When cold forming, the tight radius of the bends are the most susceptible to weakening.  Whereas a mild steel bar may never fail in the lifetime of the car, UUC wanted to ensure that the SwayBarbarian's do not lose their "spring" or "effectiveness" over time.  UUC Motorwerks continues to produce and market products far above "suitable" standards.  

    The  SwayBarbarian uses a multi-hole system on the front and rear bars which allows for fine tuning of the bar for whatever desired effect, without sacrificing body roll.

    The E36 M3 and E46 SwayBarbarians come complete with adjustable rear sway bar links to replace the factory rubber links.  Instead of using non-adjustable, rubber-bushing factory links and modifying them for use with adjustable swaybars, UUC includes these custom made, ultra-high quality end links.  They are more expensive than modifying factory links, but they feel that the benefit of being able to fine tune the fit justifies it's cost.

    These rear sway bar links are complete with:

  • Urethane bushing end links with adjustable rods (optional Aurora bearing spherical ends)
  • 18-8 stainless steel jam nuts and studs
  • Grade 12.9, blue coated M10 hex head cap screws
  • 18-8 stainless steel washers
  • Grade 8, M10 locknuts

    The UUC SwayBarbarian set is specifically sized to deliver "neutral" handling.  Note that this is in direct comparison to larger bars that are available which will negatively effect handling by enhancing undesirable understeer characteristics.

    Powdercoated Finish
    After the bars are CNC mandrel bent and the ends are forged and punched, a silver powdercoat is applied for a smooth, long lasting finish in a similar process to how factory bars are coated.  This smooth finish allows the bars, when properly installed with polyurethane bushings and grease, for long term performance with minimal maintenance.

    The SwayBarbarians include replacement polyurethane bushings which have a unique "rifle-drilled" center.  This allows for grease, when used during the installation, to remain in the groves of the bushing for long lasting, quiet results.  Be sure to use generous amounts of grease to ensure maximum performance from your SwayBarbarians!

    Tubular - Why Weight? (E46 M3 Specific)
    By selecting chrome moly as the material for their E46 M3 SwayBarbarian, UUC was also able to specify another important characteristics: tubular construction. By using a tubular material, the overall weight of the E46 M3 SwayBarbarian is reduced considerably compared to other aftermarket sway bars, as well as compared to even the stock bars. For the ultimate in sway bars, UUC uses seamless 4130 Chrome Moly in their E46 M3 tubular sway bars. Weight savings are substantial... for example, their front swaybar saves almost 10lbs compared to the original bars! When unsprung weight is the enemy, the Tubular SwayBarbarians is your weapon. Whereas most tubular bars as also made from mild steel, they prove to be weaker than solid sway bars. However, by using the higher grade stronger 4130 Chrome Moly material, you're assured that the tubular sway bars are just as strong as their solid counterparts.

    UUC Front Control Arm Bushing Set (Free Shipping)

    The OE design of the FCAB is a simple rubber bushing. The part itself is subjected to torsional forces (twisting), lateral forces (side to side), and longitudinal forces (in and out). While this basic rubber design results in a quiet and comfortable ride, it also wears out quickly and has negative effects on performance/enthusiast driving. Specifically, the indicators of worn FCABs are steering wheel shimmy, looseness in the front end, irregular tire wear, sloppy steering response, and suspension geometry changes while cornering.

    UUC's all-new design incorporates many unique features designed to permanently address these problems while giving the functionality of a race-spec component that also maintains normal street car comfort and vibration absorption. Rotational bearing accommodates all torsional forces without affecting outer bushing material. Bushing material absorbs noise and vibration.

    Results will be felt immediately as improved steering response and feel, and a more "connected" feeling with the chassis.

    Early '92 325 Suspension Update Kit - $210
